Case skid steer locked out and won’t move, what should I check first?

We lost almost half a day once because a Case machine wouldn’t move and everyone assumed transmission trouble. Mechanic showed up and checked the easy things first. Turns out mud had built up around a safety sensor and it wasn’t reading correctly. Cleaned it, restarted the machine and it drove normally again. Ever since then I’ve learned to slow down and check simple things before panicking.

Mine locked out in the middle of a job and I thought something serious failed. Ended up being a simple safety circuit issue. The machine started and hydraulics worked but drive wouldn’t engage. After checking switches and connectors it came back to life. Since then I always start with safety systems before assuming a big repair.
